That's Some Good Chits

Rogue Ales out of Newport, Oregon has announced it's latest 2017 release: Good Chit Pilsner, a 5.2% pilsner with only 38IBUs and a light yellow color. And while it's probably pretty good, the name actually comes from the malting process.

“Chit” refers to the start of the rootlets that emerge from the embryo of the kernel once steeping is complete and germination begins. Thing that makes this beer unique is that they floor malt it, which is much more a boutique option these days since the inception of the Industrial Age. Floor malting used to be the only method, it's an eight day process that includes steeping, germination, raking, roasting, bagging and hands-on love 24-hours a day. That's where the Chit grows and where this beer gets it's name.

You can find it now on draft and 22oz bottles wherever you normally find Rogue brews.
