Summer Cooler Tips

Thinking of pairing some rays with some beers? Learn the best ways to keep your brewskies cold, besides pouring your money into YETI or winning one of the contests we all enter but no one knows who actually wins because it's certainly not us... But I digress, so here's the lo-down on keeping the ice temp low.

STEP 1: Beer

Beer first, ice second. Remember the old adage that if you put the most important things in life first and then fill it with the extras second? Same applies to your cooler. Put your favorite beer in first.

STEP 2: Ice

Next fill the extra space with ice, but not just one kind of ice, try to switch it up: cubed, crushed, giant blocks. Crushed ice will melt the fastest, but it will also cool your food and drinks faster and more efficiently than another other types of ice. Cubed ice or big blocks of ice reduce surface area and therefore take longer to melt. Never knew there was so much to know about ice did you?

STEP 3: Cold Water

You may be thinking that doesn't make sense, the water will melt the ice faster, but just you wait for Step 4. So go ahead, fill it up with water – just make sure you can still lift it.

STEP 4: Salt

Add salt, because science. The salt will lower the freezing point of your water, giving you a water bath below 32 degrees keeping every surface that water touches chilled and ready for enjoyment.

Enjoy your summer! And seriously, let us know if you've ever actually won a YETI cooler, I don't think it happens.
