Not Just Nutty, But The Nuttiest Professor
Another bold move from Avery out of Boulder, Co announced this week, and this time it's their barrel-aged series that sees the latest addition, introducing: the Nutteist Professor – a bourbon barrel-aged peanut stout. Beware those with peanut allergies or lightweights, this 15.2% ABV stout is definitely not one to be underestimated. The brewers over at Avery have been working for years on this one and they finally unlocked the perfect blend of bourbon, peanuts and beer.
The secret, according to Travis Rupp the official Beer Archeologist at Avery Brewing Co, is using a "finely ground peanut flour instead of just adding peanuts, which will give this beer a blast of peanut flavor, but also will help the head retention due to reduced oil”. Anyone who doesn't say brewing isn't the perfect blend of art and science is just fooling themselves. Also if you're curious as to what a Beer Archeologist looks like, just check out the label as that is Mr. Travis Rupp himself since he's the one that pushed for this for years after starting research in his own home brewing escapades years before coming to Avery.
Nuttiest Professor will be available at Avery’s brewery and distributed to select locations nationwide in July, BUT now the bad news, if you see it, make sure to stock up, because once it is gone, it’s gone for good.
