Lookout for Lupa-Luau IPA
As many of you already know, Dogfish Head is a favorite amongst our squad, especially Ben, so to see a new IPA from them just makes this writer's tastebuds jump for joy. Dogfish Head Brewing out of Deleware has announced their latest IPA: Lupa Luau – a coconut-centric India Pale Ale brewed with a tropical trifecta of toasted coconut, experimental hops and dehydrated coconut water. And with 7.3%ABV and 45 IBUs, go ahead and pass the leis.
As if the beer itself doesn't sound refreshing enough, their explanation of the name makes it all the better, "Hazy with a white head, Lupu-Luau IPA gets its name from Lupulin, the hop flower gland containing essential oils, and luau, because Lupu-Luau is a tropical party in your mouth!" Who's ready to party?
As for the "experimental hop" they mentioned, they've been working on it for years and now they're the only ones with the contract to buy it, so if you're curious you'll just have to pick up a bottle of Lupa-Luau and taste it out for yourself. This is only the latest of their fruit IPAs from Dogfish, it's right on the heels of Aprihop which has been getting some pretty good reviews.
Even though it was supposed to release in early July, the "Fishfinder" app on their site to find local store with is still doesn't have it listed as of the time of this writing, but keep your eyes peeled and let us know if you're lucky enough to find it and tell us what you think in the comments below.
