Something Malty This Way Comes
The arrival of the latest barrel-aged series from Founders is definitely a new one for the books and we can't wait to try it. Making it's debut next month, DKML is an imperial malt liquor that they then aged in bourbon barrels making it definitely the lightest in color of their series and also one of the strongest at 14.2% ABV. Founders is definitely spreading it's wings on this one and has apparently been working on it for years making it better and better before sharing it with the world. Described as having "a smooth sweetness with vanilla tones and light fruitiness" and finished with a healthy dose of dry-hopping to get it just right.
DKML is the 4th release this year of their 2017 Barrel Aged Series behind Frootwood, KBS, and Doom along with their ever popular Backwoods Bastard which is this writer's favorite aged beer from the Wolverine state. That being said, we've still yet to get our hands on Doom since it's release last month, but rest assured we are on the look out for anything coming out of Founders as they've yet to disappoint.
Look for DKML starting July 1st in their tap room or in any of the 46 states they distribute to come the end of July, they'll be sold in 4packs and 750ml bottles. Let us know what you think, are you exciting to try something new on the market?
