Stone Farking Wheaton w00tstout
Another HopCon has come and gone, but we are still able to enjoy this year's release of Farking Wheaton w00tstout – and Imperial Stout from Stone Brewing out of California. And some of our geeky sippers will recognize the name for gem coming from it's 3 collaborators: Greg Koch who's our Stone guy, Drew Curtis from Fark.com, and of course none other than Mr. Will Wheaton himself. Each of these three self-proclaimed beer geeks contributed to this years creation – Curtis supplied the pecans and bourbon barrels as an homage to his home state of Kentucky, Wheaton "suggested" wheat (not a far stretch), and Koch just said, "Why the hell not?" and went with it.
This year's 13%ABV Imperial Stout boasts 65IBUs and flavors ranging from chocolate to licorice to vanilla and of course bourbon. Thankfully it is now rolling out across the country, albeit a limited release, in 22oz bottles and a few draft locations. Pick a bottle of for yourself and go ahead and start planning your trip out to San Diego for next year's HopCon 6.0.
