Coronado Supports Ales for ALS
Coronado Brewing out of San Diego, Ca has announced their beer for this year's Ales for ALS – an annual event benefiting ALS research wherein 128 different breweries from around the country all create a beer using the donated hops. $1 from each beer sold goes directly back to the Ales for ALS fund which has helped to earn $1.25 million ALS research.
This year's beer is Buster 4 IPA is a tribute to #4 himself, Lou Gehrig, who was famously diagnosed with ALS at the height of his baseball career, and subsequently became a face for the disease. According to the RD Brewer at Coronado Tyler Tucker, "This year’s blend is very complex, with layers of tropical fruit, citrus, and noble-like spiciness. We used 5.6 pounds of hops per barrel, compared to about 2 pounds in a typical IPA. The hops really shine in this beer!”
So hopheads rejoice for this 6%ABV IPA boasting a delicious 50IBUs. They released it on draft in their tasting room yesterday, July 4th, to coincide with the Iron Horse himself.
