Bring On The Thunder
Rogue Ales out of Oregon has released their latest updated concoction: Rolling Thunder Stout – an upgrade to the 14%ABV aged stout with hints of sherry, cherries, coconut and vanilla. We are ready for the thunder!
And being that Rogue is the only brewery, distillery, cooperage and farm all rolled into one in the country, it's only fitting that their first foray into a collaboration project be one that really takes the best of everything. Not only do they grow many of their own ingredients for this beer, but they also age it in oak barrels previously used to age their own whiskey. And oh no, they don't just use any barrels, they hand-ready their barrels. Rogue’s cooper Nate Lindquist assembles, raises, toasts, chars, hoops, cauterizes, sands and brands one barrel a day, all by hand.
So when that much effort goes into one beer, you'd better believe it's worth trying. Look for it at their Rogue pubs starting in July, the rest of us will just have to wait until August 1st to get the 1-ltr bottle to sample.
