Approach the Vanishing Point
Innis & Gunn, one of our first forays into Scotch Ales & Scotch Barrel-Aged Beers back in the day, has decided to try something new. They've just announced to new releases: Vanishing Point and Latitude & Longitude. And both are intriguing.
Latitude & Longitude is first up and is a raspberry saison. Now while we may not be the biggest fans of fruity beers on this show, this is definitely worth some consideration. According to the US General Manager, “we’ve matured the beer in bourbon barrels to which we added heaps of Scottish raspberries. The Raspberry Saison is delicious, refreshing, and unique, perfect for warm weather days. There is an amazing raspberry and elderflower aroma, and depth and warmth from the barrel maturation, with a clean, flinty finish.” Launching this month, look for it now wherever you normally find Innis & Gunn products.
Their next one is where it gets good though, Vanishing Point is an 11% Imperial Stout barrel-aged for 200 days, but they used first-fill barrels, so it's going to have a much oak-y-er taste to it. Expect "big, rich and bursting with flavors of fresh ground coffee, dark chocolate, coconut and vanilla." Unfortunately you'll have to not expect it until later this Fall.
Both beers will be available in 500ml bottles in neat gift boxes, perfect for a present to yourself.
